About GCSE maths
New syllabuses are in effect for students in year 10 (starting their GCSEs in Autumn 2007). If you're in year 11, you will probably be one of the last students having to do coursework. If you're in year 10, you will be studying one of the syllabuses offered by AQA, OCR, Edexcel or the Welsh WEJC. On the next page (About your course) I'll describe the main syllabuses offered by these UK exam boards.
I have not included information for Northern Ireland GCSEs (see the CCEA website and the BBCs NI website for more information) or Scotland's different exam structure ( see the excellent National Qualifications website).
